Suddenly finding himself lining up in the Las Vegas secondary, Wide Receiver Isaiah Zuber didn’t have to wait long Friday to showcase his versatility to the Raiders’ staff.
Zuper grabbed an interception off Patriots’ Bailey Zappe and returned it for 23 yards while filling in for the Raiders’ depleted cornerback room.
In the same game, he grabbed a 7-yard reception at his natural position, wide receiver.
“Its important to show you the more you can do. Anything I can do to stay on the team, I’m down for it,” he said.
Zuber, a free agent signed by the Raiders this offseason, lined up at safety for a number of plays against the Patriots.
The Raiders won 23-6, finishing 4-0 in the preseason. Zuber explained the coaching staff informed him he may play defense due to shortage at defensive backs. After the game, Zuber also proudly said he had to keep the ball he had the interception with.
Zuber had played for the Patriots in 2020 and had been bouncing around several practice squads for the past few seasons.
