It appears Jameis Winston will get another chance to show New Orleans he’s the guy to replace future Hall-of-Famer Drew Brees.
As The NFL Network reported, the Saints reached a two-year $28 million deal with Winston to return as the team’s likely starter.
Winston threw 14 touchdowns and just three interceptions with the team before tearing his ACL in a big divisional match-up against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 31.
New Orleans was 5-2 with Winston, who had a 102.8 QB rating.
But they crumbled without him, ushering in a season of change for the franchise.
Coach Sean Payton isn’t returning in 2022.
The Saints star left tackle still may return. But according to reports, Terron Armstead is heading to Miami for a visit Monday before making his choice.
Armstead ranks among the top free agents this spring.
