USFL MVP, KaVontae Turpin, signs with Dallas Cowboys


KaVontae Turpin, WR/KR, from the USFL New Jersey Generals is signing with the Dallas Cowboys. Turpin was the USFL MVP. Dallas waived fullback Nick Ralston to make room on the 90-player roster.

Turpin led the USFL in receiving yards (540), yards after catch (316), and avg. yards per punt return (15.3). Turpin had 4 receiving touchdowns and a punt return touchdown.

Turpin will be working to make the 53-player final roster. The Cowboys current receiver group is led by CeeDee Lamb and includes James Washington (FA from the Steelers), Michael Gallup (PUP list due to torn ACL during 17th week of 2021 season), and Jalen Tolbert (Rookie – round 3 pick via South Alabama).

KaVontae Turpin played 4 seasons (2015-2018) for TCU. Turpin amassed 145 receptions for 1748 receiving yards and 13 receiving TDs. Turpin had 2 kick return TDs and 4 punt return TDs with TCU. Turpin went undrafted in 2019, and played for the 2021 Wroclaw Panthers (American football team located in Poland that plays in the European League of Football). Turpin starred for the New Jersey Generals (USFL) in 2022.
