The Bills may hit Free Agency “Running” — three ways Buffalo can improve its ground attack

Important Bills Offseason

This offseason the Buffalo Bills will be looking to get over the hump and compete with both the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals in 2023.  The biggest move may be to get Josh Allen some much needed help on offense.  One way is to have a more consistent running game to go with Allen’s aggressive play style.  This may lead to more play action to both Dawson Knox and Stefon Diggs.  It also could relieve Allen from forcing the ball into tight windows less frequently which became a problem as the season wore on.  Here’s a look at some options that may be available for Buffalo.

  1. Free Agency: The likes of Josh Jacobs, Tony Pollard, and Saquon Barkley are available this off season.  If the Bills want their Super Bowl window to remain open, a huge splash may be the way to go.
  2. NFL Draft: With a later pick a steal at running back at 27 may be available for the Bills, such as Texas A & M running back, Devon Achane or the Bills could address the running back option in the later rounds while also working on bolstering their offensive line in the 1st or 2 round.
  3. Devin Singletary: The answer may be right in house if given a more central role.  Entering his 5th year, Singletary is also entering free agency but did average 4.6 yards a carry in 2022 and if the offense became more standardized, he could have a big year.

4 consecutive playoff berths have allowed the Bills to be one of the best teams in the NFL.  However, the organization and fan based are ready for the next step.  An answer at running back could boast well for Josh Allen and company in 2023.
