Saints Chris Olave on historic pace

Saints Receiver Chris Olave has been putting up highlights, seemingly, since the moment he laced up his cleats in New Orleans.

And with the 2022 NFL season hitting its final quarter, he may set a team record, too.

Olave is averaging 14.8 yards per-catch this season – a mark only achieved once in the club’s 50-year career.

Among wideouts with at least 40 catches in their rookie season, only Marques Colston (2006) posted 14.8 yards-per-reception.

Olave is 250 yards behind Michael Thomas’ record of 1,137 receiving yards as a rookie, which was set in 2016 when Drew Brees was still the team’s signal-caller.

Marques Colston is the only other Saint with more than 1,000 yards as a rookie. Colston had 70 receptions for 1,038 yards and 8 TDs.

Currently Olave has 60 receptions for 887 yards and 3 TDs.
