TJ Watt may have been once again dominated the headlines behind the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
But a promising rookie also was a difference-maker in Sunday’s win.
Nick Herbig, who has two pressures and 1 hurry this season, registered his first sack as a pro in the game’s second quarter.
“I did the Alex Highsmith,” Herbig said. “That’s something he does a lot. The speed rush around the edge, the chop away of the hands, and the bend. I learned it all from him.”
Herbig was drafted in the 4th round in the 2023 draft. He had a standout preseason but has been relatively quiet at the beginning of 2023. That changed on Sunday.
Herbig was swarmed by his teammates after his second quarter sack.
He was in the game to give a breather to Pro Bowler, Alex Highsmith.
Said Highsmith of Herbig’s sack, ““I’m so proud of him,” Highsmith said. “He just asks questions all the time and learns from all of us in that room. We even learn from him. It’s great to see him go out there and get his first career sack.”
Herbig is the younger brother of Steelers guard Nate Herbig. They both hope to continue to help the 4-2 Steelers back to the playoffs.
