Damarri Mathis: Elite Athletic Skills

Damarri Mathis was one of the best CBs in the ACC for 2021.

Damarri Mathis, CB, out of Pitt is a name to watch in the 2022 Draft.

Mathis was a 3 star prospect coming out of Lakeland, Florida. He played behind current NFL players like Avonte Maddox, Dane Jackson, and Jason Pinnock. Mathis earned increased playing time in 2019 when he showed that he was going to be a good defensive back for the Pitt Panthers. Unfortunately he suffered a non-football related injury in 2020 that resulted in him missing the entire college season. He came back in a big way in 2021 earning Honorable mention All-ACC. This is impressive considering Pitt is known for having their Corners play on islands without much if any help over the top.

  • 12 games played
  • 32 solo and 43 combined tackles
  • 5 passes defensed, 2 INT, and 1 TD

His draft stock improved greatly this spring with some impressive Combine and Pro Day numbers.

  • 40 yard dash time: 4.39 (8th fastest CB)
  • Pro Day Vertical Jump: 43.5″ (Best Vertical in the entire draft class)
  • Pro Day Broad Jump: 133″ (Top CB Broad Jump and 4th Best overall)

Most projections have Mathis being drafted on the 2nd day, and his name will be one to listen for.
