Justin Fields is growing in Bears offense
The Chicago Bears believe they have found their franchise quarterback.
And they are ready to start shopping to put the right pieces around him.
Justin Fields’ second-half surge has apparently won over the Bears organization and the team is willing to trade the number 1 overall pick to stockpile additional draft capital, Albert Breer reported Wednesday.
The Bears have decided to go ahead with Justin Fields as the franchise QB and will try to trade the 1st overall pick in the draft instead of drafting a quarterback prospect, according to @AlbertBreer
Fields entered the 2022 season as a raw prospect in the eyes of many talent evaluators. But as the year progressed, so did Fields, who became a focal point of the offense with his arm and feet. In all, 12 of Fields 17 passing touchdowns occurred over the final 8 games of the season. He also had 6 touchdowns on the ground during his last 8 games –putting him among the league’s best at the position. Fields QB ranking jumped 12 points to 85.2 in 2022, another mark of progress. Offensive Coordinator Luke Getzy praised Fields’ work ethic in an interview with media at the Senior Bowl this week.
“Nobody works harder than Justin. The kind of guy he is, the kind of leader that he is, (I am) really excited to see what we can do this coming season, you can see the most growth for 2022,” he said.
