Patriots Quarterback Mac Jones is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain – an injury that would likely send him to IR but allow him to return this season, according to multiple reports.
The second-year QB will receive an MRI today to enable the team to see if the Jones sustained ligament damage.
A high-ankle sprain carries a slow recovery but it wouldn’t be nearly as bad as a season-ending issue that some analysts predicted Sunday.
Jones was hurt in the final play of the Patriots game against the Baltimore Ravens. Calais Campbell took down Jones and appeared to land on his ankle.
New England is now 1-2 on the year and would be expected to turn to veteran Bryan Hoyer, a 14-year veteran with plenty of experiencing managing the team’s offense.
#Patriots QB Mac Jones is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain, pending MRI, per me and @TomPelissero. That means he’ll miss time and potentially head to IR, if the MRI confirms pic.twitter.com/tku5BnLmJV— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 26, 2022
