Keenan Allen to be cut?
The Chargers will likely cut their Pro Bowl receiver this spring to make cap room. Senior Writer Daniel Popper of The Athletic, who covers the team, noted the Chargers would clear $14.8 million by cutting Keenan Allen.
Keenan Allen Stats
Allen posted 752 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games last year after missing the first portion of the season due to injury. It was his lowest showing since another injury-shortened 2016 campaign. Allen is still just 30 years old but he’s missed time in three of the past four seasons, another factor that may weigh against him. Still, Allen would likely have suitors for his talents.
Allen averaged 11.5 yards per catch last year and posted a PFF grade above 84. While the Chargers need to clear space (Khalil Mack and Gerald Everett could also be cut) other receiver-needy teams, including the Patriots, Chiefs and Bears have more flexibility.
