The NY Giants have activated OL Nick Gates to their 53-man roster today.
Gates suffered a terrible leg injury (fractured fibula and tibia) over 1 year ago. The injury required 7 surgeries. Some feared that this would be a career ending injury.
Gates has been practicing with the Giants since October 5th. It is reported that even though Gates can play across the whole line, the main focus has been at Center and Guard.
The timing of Gates’ return will be big for the Giants as Evan Neal (RT) and Ben Bredeson (LG) are expected to miss some time due to injuries suffered in the Giants win over the Jaguars this past Sunday.
Coach Brian Daboll called both Neal and Bredeson “week-to-week.”
