Back in 2016, Pickett committed to Temple University and Matt Rhule. Pickett then flipped his commitment to Pitt in June 2016. In December 2016, Rhule left Temple to take the head coaching job at Baylor. Even though Pickett never played for Rhule, they already had somewhat of a relationship back in 2016.
Ben McAdoo, Carolina Panther’s offensive coordinator, is originally from Homer City, PA. That is roughly 1 hour east of Pittsburgh. McAdoo also once served as a graduate assistant for Pitt in 2003.

David Tepper, the Carolina Panther’s Owner, holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and is a native of Pittsburgh, PA.
Today marked Pitt’s Pro Day, and all eyes were on Pickett. Teams that were really watching Pickett perform today were the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Detroit Lions, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, and Washington Commanders.
Kenny Pickett’s effort today was for all intents flawless. He ran through a 56-throw script, one that ran from anticipation throws to those that showed off his arm strength. He had meetings w/ eight teams from 9am-9:30pm yesterday (dinner was on the #Eagles!) and has more today.— Aditi Kinkhabwala (@AKinkhabwala) March 21, 2022

Atlanta, Carolina, and Pittsburgh were really well represented at Pitt’s facilities today with their respective GMs and Coaches.

Pickett, who wears 2 gloves, took his throwing hand glove off to show McAdoo his grip on the football. This comes after Pickett’s hands measured in at 8.5″ at the Combine. They measured his hands again today, and Pickett added an additional 1/8″ to the Combine hand measurement. It should be noted here that Pickett has a double-jointed thumb which makes it very difficult for him to lay out his hand on a flat surface, but it doesn’t affect his ability to grip the football as his thumb can easily stretch around that surface.
Another interesting note developed today when the Atlanta Falcons traded Matt Ryan to the Colts for a 3rd round pick. Were the Falcons waiting to see how Pickett performed today before finalizing the deal? The Panthers pick 6th overall, and the Falcons pick 8th in the upcoming Draft.
