FA Rewind: A look back at 2021 WR signings

Lots of money, few games played

Among the top 10 free agent wide receivers to hit the market last year (we’re not counting the guys who got tagged), the 2021 free agent class was certainly missing something on the stat sheet this past season.

Namely, games missed.

Just three of those ten receivers played at least 15 games in 2021.  (A.J. Green, Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne)

The other seven missed a combined 60 games.

That’s 3 1/2 seasons of football.

Perhaps the bigger concern for the teams that dipped deep into the pockets to pay them last March:  The results on the field.

Let’s just say they weren’t much better.

Most TDs: 5

Kendrick Bourne (perhaps the class’ biggest steal at 3 yrs/$15 million)

Most yards: 848

A.J. Green, the class’ Iron Man. The only guy to suit up for 16 games. (When Green tops a list with most games, that’s probably a bad sign)

Biggest flop: Kenny Golladay (We could pick Curtis Samuel here (5 games, 26 yards) but the former logged 14 games and didn’t score a single touchdown.

No pressure, Kenny. You’ve still got three more years in that $72 million contract to find the end zone.

Most yards per-game: 54.7

Corey Davis missed 8 games in 2021, but had 492 receiving yards on 34 catches.
