Denver adds Pro Bowl Linebacker

The Denver Broncos are adding a veteran linebacker to replace their injured starter.

Joe Schobert, a one time Pro Bowler, is joining the team to fill a void created by Jonas Griffith’s injury over the weekend.

Schobert flashed early in his career but has struggled since leaving Cleveland.

A 2021 trade brought him to Pittsburgh where he had a 52 pff grade, recording more than 100 tackles on a defense that struggled to stop the run.

Jonas Griffith was penciled in as Denver’s starting inside linebacker. But he dislocated his elbow during the first quarter of the Broncos game and could miss up to six weeks.

Denver 7 news reporter Troy Renck confirmed Griffith suffered the injury.

Its a setback for a surprise 2021 standout who looked dependable in four starts late in the season.

Griffith secured the inside linebacker job — but 2022 was his first preseason pencilled in as having the added responsibility, meaning a ull preseason would have been ideal.

Now, Griffith is likely set for a Week 2 or 3 debut.
