Will the Jets deal Elijah Moore to the Browns?
The Cleveland Browns’ hunt for a speedy weapon to unlock their offense could involve targeting a New York Jets prospect.
According to longtime Cleveland.com’s Browns reporter, Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns tried to trade for Elijah Moore last season when the Ole’ Miss alum was unhappy about his target share.
The Jets told suitors they had no interest in dealing Moore.
And, as with Braxton Berrios now a Miami Dolphin, Moore appears to be on track to be a frequent target in the slot for 2023.
But with rumors swirling that a Jets-Packers trade for Aaron Rodgers could involve players, as well as picks, the Browns may be trying to jump line – if Moore’s available.
The Jets have told media they view Moore as a building block for their future – and he teased Pro Bowl potential as a rookie, piling up 459 yards in a six-game span over the second half of the season. He had a Pro Football Focus grade of 71 that year.
Moore didn’t look the same in 2022. His overall PFF “offense grade” for his 57.5 overall performance was 99th of 113 qualifying receivers: 57.5 His receiving grade was 98th, according to Pro Football Focus.
The Browns are likely looking at that, rather than his disappointing 2023 season, which saw him see passes from three quarterbacks – particularly a struggling Zach Wilson.
But whether the Jets are willing to seriously consider any offers remains to be seen.
