Dee Ford is moving on.
Ending a move that never lived up to the post-trade buzz, the San Francisco 49ers announced Wednesday they were releasing Ford.
Since acquiring him from the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019, Ford appeared in 18 games (two starts) and registered 22 tackles, 9.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.
He also saw action in three postseason contests and added four tackles and 1.0 sack — but inavailability was a constant issue for the talented pass-rusher.
A concussion knocked Ford out half-way into the 2021 season but lingering back issues were already plaguing him again last season.
Now 31, he’ll be looking for a third team, likely as a situational rusher.
